I definitely agree with EVH and Brian May, and possibly Jimmy Page, but the rest ....... :hmm:

no LP's. At least JP should have been a LP instead of the double neck.

I guess it depends on age and musical culture.
I did a quick list before I saw their's and came up with these:

Jimmy Page #1 and 2 combined
(let's face it, most "civilians" (non-members) don't even know there are two of them!)

Jimmy Page Doubleneck
(was a milestone when he used it)

Jimi Hendrix (Woodstock)
(need I say anything?)

Brian May's bizarre guitar!
(object of curiousity and tone searching)

Clapton’s SG

Clapton’s Blackie

Clapton’s Beano (only because I have been influenced by this forum)

Perry Slash Perry Burst

B.B.King’s Lucille

Peter Green's

I had forgotten about EVH’s Frankenstrat before I saw the list.

And no, not the Black Custom that Les Paul is holding on the book cover!!!

Geez, that's a crappy list. How could any list not include Pearly Gates, Angus's SG, and Peter Frampton's Les Paul Custom?

Angus' SG +1
SRV Strat +1
Clapton's Blackie+1

As popular as Slash is, I'm surprised that his original LP didn't make the list.

Frampton's #1 made some news recently.

I love the arguments about Cobain's POS. I never knew what he played, didn't care. He barely played anything with it.

I wish John Dwyers Burns Double 6 was on the list! That is one bad green machine!

I agree. I think the list really depends upon the individuals who are asked to compile the list. If you ask the general public they probably aren't going to come up with the same list as a group of guitar players. And even more specifically, players within a certain genre may have guitars in mind that those not familiar with it wouldn't know.

My list (which is definitely biased towards classic rock). These are guitars that if someone showed me a picture of, I would immediately think of these artist.

Jimmy Page - Les Paul
David Gilmore - Strat
Eric Clapton - Strat
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Strat
BB King - Lucille
Eddie Van Halen - frankenstein
Angus Young -SG
Jimi Hendrix - Strat
Larry Carlton - 335
Roy Buchanan - Tele

Good one though!

Hey... to ME it is one of the most iconic guitars!!! I mean.. the fact that it still plays is just redonkulous!!!

Mine, however, was NOT urinated on and left in the sun for three days!!!!
