Can't say enough about these things. I also have one in white, like the above. absolutely love them. thin, fast necks, a Floyd rose, light weight.....absolutely killer. New for under $900. The yellow is my go to (see avatar).

I'm leaning HARD toward Charvel for my next guitar, thanks to cats like op who posted in my thread. Wanted the EVH until I found out it doesn't have the full FR routing.

San Dimas 1, either in white or trans black. I'm thinking white because veneer ain't my style.

Questions, are the MIJ any different than MIM? I just learned today that the 2011 earthquake is what caused the move. I noticed a used MIJ is the same price as a new MIM too.

MIJ's are highly regarded; however I believe their Floyd Rose is not recessed.

I love mine, sometimes I wish I could have gotten one with a maple board..... Also sadly the HT version doesn't get the very cool colors that the floyd ones have. Sadly the only really nice finish for the HT, the black/blue burst wasn't available.

I just noticed on Craigslist in my area, for a $1000 you can get used MINT USA charvel custom. Or other USA charvels.

Most of the USA and MIJ Charvels are top mount/non-recessed Floyd. Only the current MIM's are recessed.

I noticed that... but some are so nice, I'd consider taking to to a luthier to route that back pocket.

It's one of the USA Select Models. Nice. I believe the street price on those is $1999. Sounds like a good price used.

It looks crazy beautiful, that's for damn sure. And I don't even like gold hardware. It looks like something Prince would play if he didn't want to bust out his flashy stuff.

The price for it is the same as a new MIM San Dimas tele. Plus this comes with ohsc. I think the new ones are in gig bags?

The MIM's do not come with any case or bag. The HSC on that craigslist ad does not look original, probably a 3rd party case.

Right you are Ken. ;)

That's aftermarket. Not ohsc.

Hi Gang...
Keep in mind that Charvels achieved their legendary status in part, due to the quarter-sawn oiled (unfinished) maple necks they sported.
The newer MIM models went to a flat sawn neck, urethane sprayed neck.... they feel different.
That, plus the non-recessed FR tremolos on the older USA models and MIJ models, gives them their unique, legendary vibe. (Cosmetically, the MIJ models have a tinted neck oil (Watco oil) whereas the others are untinted.... this makes the MIJ look a little 'aged')

The newer MIM models are fine, but not the same feel if that's what you're after.

Wow... that's some serious depreciation, but a great value used... they're very good guitars.
