This had been sitting at my local store for a couple of months and I’d been avoiding trying it … I do like Joe but mainly it was just an interesting CS model with ‘59 specs but a plain top and an interesting ‘burst. I guess it’s kinda in the Bourbon space but a little more orange in the middle?
Ultimately, the playability and the tone (was concerned those nylon saddles would lose too much high-end but it still has bite, just a little smoother) sold it to me and since it had sat there a while I was able to haggle a relatively decent chunk off the asking price.
Was also a fan of the black plastic as my 335 and LP Special both have that so this matches nicely! However, I have switched the truss-rod cover for a plain one, the black switch-tip for amber and the mismatched knobs for black reflectors. I think that gives it a slightly “cleaner” look. Originals retained, of course!
