Hey Folks - Based on the serial number of my Les Paul (80426529), it was made in Nashville in 1986. The head stock says 'Les Paul Model' and the truss rod cover says 'Les Paul Custom'. All of the Les Paul customs that I see from this year have binding around the body, but this one does not. Can someone verify the model of this guitar? Here are a couple photos. Thanks for your help!

Peter

That's an early Les Paul Studio. The dots and lack of binding are a dead giveaway for these early Studios.

I second that statement.

Cool guitar by the way!

Thanks, guys. So, is the truss rod cover not original? Did the real one say Les Paul Studio?

TRC looks newer and definitely not original, the rest of the guitar looks like it was ridden hard and put away wet.... i dig it

There is a LP Studio Custom, but this is not one of them. The LP Studio Custom does have a dot fret board and it also has multi-layered binding, and this does not have the binding. It just looks as though someone replaced the truss rod cover with a LP Custom cover.

A great example of why this forum exists.

Never trust a truss rod cover.
