It's arguably the cheapest part of our signal chain but still has an effect. Do you keep a variety on hand or have a favourite and that's it? I'm pretty solidly a jazz3 user and don't get too fussy about what the material is so long as it's 1.14 or so. I do notice the nylons warm up and gain flex during use.

I decided to do a quick video comparison as I just bought some tortex 1.14 to try out.

I'm not 100% sure how much the differences would be heard in a band context, as with so many things we tweak.

I love nylon picks... 1.14 size.

Right now I'm using Snarling Dog Brains.

I like the Herco Holy Grails too, but they're a little on the thin side for me.

I prefer the sound of the Herco Grails, but I play much better with the Brain 1.14s.

For 20yrs I used the Green picks only. I'm heavy handed so I was wearing them down fairly quickly, breaking strings and occasionally dropping them. Switched to the Black 1mm nylon and solved 3 out of 3 issues. In hindsight I only broke strings when the picks were worn. I was likely compensating to get the picking sound I wanted by picking harder.

The Red .73mm nylon is for acoustic when picking and strumming. The Grey .6mm is just for acoustic strumming.

Memes and picks…we got too much in common, it’s gross lol.
The greens have been my favorite for years, Philip Sayce uses them. They do wear out pretty easy. I need to try those black nylons!

The Green ones are awesome when new but once rounded, not so great.

I've only ever bought 2 packs (12pcs each) of the Black nylons in my life and half of the last pack has never been touched. I haven't replaced any due to being worn out. Only lost.

I used to use the Dunlop nylons, but just like @SteveC sometimes the string would get caught on the "USA"... it was annoying.

I found the Snarling Dogs and never looked back.

Hmmm…
Those nylon Dunlops look different than the

Agreed...your choice of pick will have an impact on your tone. I used the Fender extra heavy 347 pick for years. I always use the rounded end and not the pointed end. Then I tried the Herco Flex 75 and it changed my tone for the better and that is the pick I have used the past few years.

I just use the orange-colored Tortex. I wear notches in the tips and throw them away. They're everywhere, all over the house, the car, in junk drawers, shit, even in the bathroom!

Did anyone ever have the “shark tooth” dunlop ones - i think the idea was grab the strings for pick slides? I thought they were cool when i started at 11yo!

Also, a pick in the wallet is a must.

I've used these off-on for years, first the .88s and now the 1mms. They're very firmly made and have an attack that I generally prefer.

I also used those dunlop max grips for a while, the 1.14s specifically. My hands get sweaty very quickly when I play guitar, so they were very useful for a while for letting me continue to grip the pick. Never loved most of the Jazz IIIs i've played but I definitely get why they have the following they do.

Where does one get A 808 shaped pick caddy? Looks 3d printed. That's Cool!

Absolutely.

Wouldn’t get caught dead without one.

Acetal 1.0 in white.
Used Dunlop Tortex for years.
Then I had a bunch of Steve Claytons that have lasted for years.
Had them do a custom batch for me.
