@VictorB, your black guitar gives me the jealous in a bad way. That's gorgeous.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe the hype started a few years ago when Bonamassa made a video about said guitar, and then Gibson did a limited run.
Thats why it's called Blackburst, because it's black over burst, I guess we would have just called it blacktop otherwise.

I have a 68 RI with a finish that was/is named "Black Burst" on the hang tags.

And no black burst yet?

Maybe a scarce LP. I know Gibson repurposed most of them along with the Hinson DC JRs.

Basically Gibson just over aged them and called it a day.

At one point Wildwood had 1 Hinson and 6 repurposed Hinson's.

Really hard to tell those two apart but the black burst got enough over-aging so as not to be confused with black burst.

With a wraparound and natural sides and back, a black top is gorgeous.

I think i know what you mean. Thats a 55 conversion/restoration
