Not so sure your design will take off, seems a little excessive.

any design with movable parts is capable of failing.
my design is not a strap-lock it's just a button.
1 piece of metal .
the part that I would worry about failing with my design, is the screw that holds the button on.

I'm not worried. I won't be working with Acme.

Also, you don't have my permission to use that design. You're the kind of guy who'd pull an Edison on me.

don't worry. davebz has a niche device for a niche group that is already covered by several well-designed devices.... he's going to be rich!

I don't plan on getting rich, this is just an idea I think works good.
You don't have to like it,or buy it if it ever gets sold.
just putting the word out there and asking for advice.
I am still working on it trying to get it better.
I'll have them on my guitars anyway.

I'm hoping to get it out there some day.
if it costs to much to market it, maybe I'll sell them myself without a patent.
If it's worth the cost of making them.
I would also like to get them chromed.

Good luck with your design and coimmercial plans.
But "easier than using rubber washers"?
Those guys are using the wrong type of rubber washers.
It's the beer bottle type stoppers.
I specifically use the ones on Grolsch / Newcastle Brown bottles.
They're reliable, soft and supple, and could only be easier to use if you didn't use them at all.

The reason it's easier is because you dont have to stretch a rubber washer over the strap button.
you just attach the strap no messing around with a rubber washer, getting the strap on or off.
