Hi guys

I’m new to the site, i just got to it many times while researching about my “74???” White les paul custom.
I know 70/75 is kinda gibson bermuda triangle but still would like to know what i own.

It is a white gibson les paul custom, very yellowish by now. Abr1 bridge, grover tuners (no extra holes in the back of the headsrock), trans tenon, with 2 stamped pickups with no cover, old black soeedinobs, blank truss rod cover. The serial is a 6 digit starting with 1xxxxx and has the made in usa stamped. Both the number and the made in usa are quite odd and sloppy. The peghead is 17 degrees wich deives me crazy cause my other 2 norlin les pauls, a 73 black beauty and a 80 standars both have 14 degrees. The control cavity anthe pickup cavities are very much like the 73, including the square channel conecting the control to the switch cavity. The neck is mahogany for sure but i’m no able tobtell if it is a 3 piece. The body is a pancake for sure. I know that 74 is the first white lp custom year and also that after 75 necks were 3 piece maple sonthis one must be a 74/75 but the routing of the channel more likely 73 and the peghead angle should be 14 right? Pots are impossible to read so no help there. I’ll post some pics. In the meantime any help is welcome. Thanx

You should post this in the Norlin section. You'll get better feedback there.

because it has features that went out in 75 (hog neck--routing channel--trans tennon etc.) and 74 was the first year for white, and that appears to be a factory finish.......

you pretty much ID'd it yourself.

read here and some of the other Norlin ID threads in the Norlin section....you will easily answer most of your own questions and if not, we are always glad to help.

Refret, changed caps, would have had covers... just stating the obvious. I really like the look of gold covers worn down to bare metal, so I'm sorry those are gone. Nice guitar, for sure.

Somebody know what they were stripping. It's missing the early '70s BB caps - what a shame.
