I disagree that "plekd ones are supposed to be" like that. My other six LP's do not do this. Plekd was not programmed properly, or guitars vary slightly, or not mounted correctly. Either way, it doesn't work for you or me. In my case, the nut could be moved a little towards the low E.

Your situation could be different. It appears to be equally spaced on both sides; so a new nut spacing might be your answer. The newer 2013 LP I have, has a little wider spacing than my older 2008 LP's. Guitars are CNC and hand finished...accounting for variations. My other Gibson's like my ES-s and SG's have different but narrower string spacing.

I know it's very annoying hearing the pings; so get it fixed. Play hard the way that you want... SRV does! BTW, the Plekd machine doesn't play guitar. :applause:

Exactly, because I have two issues lol.

I went to GC yesterday and he told me, once again, That the rosewood shrunk which caused the gap."It's like those people complaining about having sharp frets after a while of buying an acoustic guitar."

I tried two other LPTP 2 and they both had the same problem I'm having with spacing, not the gap. All of them made the ping noise with slightest pull off, but they didn't get caught in the binding.

What I'm actually thinking now, is to replace my nut with a nut with Epiphone type of spacing. ( where almost all strings are are close to each other.)

And If that didn't work, I'm going to remove the binding over the nibs as well.

Would that work ?

Same reply :D.

I had a similar issue on my 79 lpc, the factory nut had the high E too far over on the edge side and it would get caught all the time like yours is.

the luthier I use (Mouradian) fixed it by offsetting the string placements on the bridge. I needed a new bridge anyway. It plays great now.

why do you care if they are Gibson Authorized? you should take it to a respected luthier

Cause I just broke my bank on that guitar, the warranty should cover most of my problems.. I guess.

I'm not from this place, and I don't know a " respected luthier " unfortunately.

I am sure southern california has a bunch of them. GC is not going to solve your issues, having them replace your nut is insanity

I just fixed an SG with this exact problem. There are many, many Gibsons with this issue and I simply do not understand why Gibson continues to leave plastic binding at the edge of every fret, just like I don't understand why they don't use a scarf joint for their headstocks or use a laminated neck for better strength, but I digress.

The latest Gibson I fixed with this problem had a 004" gap at almost every single fret causing the string to catch easily when doing pull offs. I started the fix with thin CA, let that dry and then, added Gorilla Super glue to fill the larger gaps. Be sure to tape the fretboard off when doing this. You'll have to remove the excess glue on top of the fret and nib with a crowning file and then clean up with some 0000 steel wool. I then polish and I'm done.

Wow... I'm really scared about some replies!

There's a gap between the fret and the nib. That's so simple! The string will catch that sometimes even when you just hit it open due to the oscilation.
I see people telling you to change the nut, even the BRIDGE!!! Come on!
Guitars are made of many different materials. Sometimes they won't bind perfectly and that's it!

Just have a bit of glue dropped there and you'll be happy forever!

LOL... I, too, get stressed reading this thread! Relax, since it's under warranty, get authorized Gibson shop to fix it, no stress and no money out-of-pocket.:dude:

I've also done the superglue nut!...works well.
