Over The Pond Guy Pickups...$650 a set but it takes him 6 months to make them.
Supposedly they are the most accurate sounding 59 PAF replica pups on the market & he has been making them for years.
He is shrouded in secrecy and keeps his identity hidden, seriously.
Lots of threads and talk about them in the pickup area and a few members own multiple sets, they are that good.

Agree with you Cookie-Boy...you just have to get used to that behavior from some members lol.

Yeah lol!
I emailed him and he replied with a quote and time frame.
Supposedly he uses ALL the correct materials and his pup rings are perfect 59 replicas as well.
I would love a set and would definitely buy some if I were to even consider paying $500 for some DRY Z's.
An extra $150 for some incredible pickups that will become sought after as time passes.

Hi Guys

I sold most of my reissues guitar that I had in the past. I just kept one R8 which is going next January to Florian Jaeger.

I have been disapointed by the quality of reissues and the massive production of Gibson which is far far away from what they were doing in the past.

So I decided to go in the replica direction with the rigth men. There are some good luthiers everywhere in the world with skills and good wood. Result is that these fakes Gibson replica are closer to a real burst and the replicas sound great compared to reissue.

Here is a project by a french luthier.
Hondurian mahogany, braz board, hide glue, real nitro lacquer, sheptone, RS parts, correct inlays from dave Johnson .... The size of the guitar is coming from a real 59 quotation drawing.

I have also a 59 LP M Baranet which is incredible.

One questions guys. How do you put pictures in your post ? I can't put pictures.
I have some nice pictures on my computer to show.

Load them to your photobucket account, left click on the IMG and copy, come back to MLP, click on the "mountain" icon above and you've done it!

I will get the LP replica (first picture) the 23rd of december. I waited one year to get it built. The guitar is going to be gloss off and aged rs part will be added. There won't be any relic job done on the guitar.
I took the guitar in my hand and she is very ligth.

The other LP (second picture) is beautifull but.....she sounds fantastic !!! Nothing to compare with a reissue.
It is old growth wood with original 59 PAF and original 57 harness. It is a replica finished by Dave Johnson.

I am waiting for a third replica built by a very skilled luthier for september 2011.

I guess a burst expert will find some small differences on the guitar compared to the real deal, but honestly, my goal is to have nice sounding LP to PLAY.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures.

Have a good weekend

Hey Jean

I suspect these are in the $5000 to $15,000 range minus the real original hardware eh?

Been eying up Scoop for over a year now and have come close on many occasions to buying one!
I would like to get Roman to make me one as well but really my dream is to make my own

Hi

Yes it is the range. The second one is more expensive due to hardware and wood quality.

It is the first time I hear about scoop ? Where are they ?

Are you talking about Roman Rist ? He made several anouncement in the forum that he was not doing replica LP anymore.

Yeah no I would not have Roman make me a replica per say.
I would just have him make me one with his own headstock (if he would) :D
His Jr.'s are killer as well

Scoop is based out of Japan

Not a replica per se, seeing as how I wanted some custom features such as a thinner, chambered body, but I believe the general attention to Burst-detail speaks for itself:

also, not a replica per se but probably happier to be the proud owner of this one, than any other Les Paul I have ever owned; which is saying a lot

Nice, solid top maple lumber

Long tenon that fits tight as a glove :)

About as close as possible to a perfectly quartersawn neck :)
BLS-59flameqsawnhd.jpg

IMO this is a great feature:
the holes for the stop tail studs are flat counter sunk so, as to allow the top surfaces of the flanges on the two studs to be flush with the body top :)
BLS-59flametlpcstd.jpg

the top on this Les Paul is insane; why do I say that?
the annual ring on each top half exhibits no indication of book matching, and is also very widely spaced, yet the flame feature on both top halves is perfectly book matched  :wow: :hmm:
I have yet to see another top on any example of Les Paul that has such a book matched quality to the flame feature, yet the annual ring features are completly off; it is completely whack :dude:
as a bonus, she has a Honduran body & neck :naughty: .......................
I consider what I paid for this extremely rare & wonderful gem to be a complete bargain, and I would gladly pay the same price if I could only find another.
