I know you have a presence on facebook. Start an Instagram account and a youtube, too. Start loading content a couple of times a week. You will get instant feedback. Cross post to all three accounts and learn all of the most popular hashtags.

I'm sorry.
Not originals. Just stuff I would not really listen to.

I love playing in my band and I couldn't bear to do a solo show. I think that's because the band is mates first/musicians second. So we forgive each other easily and constantly. Maybe it's just not the right band for you. But music is social, and I think best played in groups. :)

Ya ever thought maybe just to keep it simple? Maybe just find one guy who can sing and play bass. It adds soooo much to the sound to me. Here's a couple examples of two guys, simple covers. I watch everything these guys do and love to listen to them.
Less guys, less issues plus bass players are just trained monkeys. I mean in a nice way...lol.

I think this sounds better than Toto....

those guys are good..

Glad its worked itself out fot now.

Sometimes you just gotta punch the bully...

Just file it away and remember this - if it starts back up again, move on.

Nothing wrong with not being in love with the musical taste of your bandmates-audience. As long as your able to do your share of what YOU want...do it as long as you can. When it becomes unbearable - move on. $$ is nice - but as you said, its not all about money always.

Selling my soul for a legion of fans and millions, a fiddle made of gold or to be the greatest guitarist ever...thats tempting....400 extra dollars a week - pass.

Steve, you ask for advice.

You already know what to do. Every time. And it's the same thing that we "advise" you to do. So you already know.

Cut the charade of "needing help".

You don't need any help. You never do. You never did.

Just tell us, "guys, this is what is going on".

It's a story . Tell it. You don't need to disguise it into something else.

Agree.
Steve, you’re semi-pro at this point and have as much experience, if not more, than most here.

FWIW I love the war and road stories.

A few things Steve.....first off, you have to prioritize your time, like we all do. I have a desire to do some originals, as in, an all original project. Realistically, I don't have time. I would have to quit what I'm doing now, and I like the band members, the material, the gigs, and the money we are getting. It would be unfair to my current band, myself, and any new band I joined to overcommit and try and do something like that. Only you know how much time you have to devote to this stuff, but you have worked hard to get where you are with the solo thing, and it also seems from other posts like you kinda need the dough at points too. I certainly wouldn't sacrifice any gigs to do this project if I were you.

Second, and I hate to be a downer, but, looking at this list, where exactly do you plan on getting hired? I don't care how good the musicianship is, I don't know many places outside of an Irish festival of some sort where that would fly and either draw or hold a crowd. I'd be gone after a few songs. Sorry man, just being honest. It's something you have to consider.

That combined with the fact that you would probably be making 1/3 or less of what you are playing solo......I don't know man.

I do know what you DO NOT want to do, and that is use your name and reputation to bring something like this to a place you already play unless you KNOW you can draw a crowd FOR SURE. If you do that, and you don't draw, right or wrong, you have kind of soured your reputation a bit.

When in a band setting, you have to be VERY clear on your desires and time, which you were. Everyone has to be on the same page. I would have a band meeting and discuss this stuff with all of the members. How often do you want to practice, how often do you want to gig, where do you plan on gigging, who is going to get the gigs, what is the minimum you are going to charge, who is going to hustle gigs....all of the stuff has to be decided on and it should be up front. All of that shit you posted about pain in the ass owners, what to charge, where to play....well know you still have all of that, AND 3, or 4 (however many are in this band) personalities to deal with on top of all that.

After reading your posts about this guys attitude, reading your previous posts about difficulties booking/owners/duo wise, and looking at a set list that quite frankly probably won't draw anyone, I'd stick to the solo thing. My two cents.

I think AT FIRST we will draw. But based on the music I am afraid that will be short lived. Now we are booked at one of the better venues in the area that is an Irish type place. We all agreed we only wanna play a couple times a month and more the festival route. I was planning on cutting back on the solo stuff prior to this project. My business is doing well again so I am honestly more concerned with a nice crowd than the money. Although I am not gonna play for pennies. I am enjoying learning new stuff. A few of the new songs I REALLY like. Fields of gold I love....the Tyler childers stuff is to appease me lol. Here is the deal, we are turning down gigs LIKE CRAZY because we are not ready. BUT the guys are unconcerned with money. They are willing to play for 200...300...400 whatever. I will stick with it for now. But I am not dealing with the bullshit anymore.
