Since I've lived here, not one kid has come to ask to shovel.

I loved snow storms when I was a kid, we got rich every storm.

My buddy and I would get $5 to do a driveway, a fortune in the 50s. I still see him every summer.

You made your house sound like this...

Wow! Three feet of snow?! My Mustang gets stuck in about 3 inches of snow! I'm thinking a viewing of Ferris Bueller's Day Off is in order. ^ ^

So does my challenger. I store it in winter and bought a jeep to plow through shit with. Took me one snow storm 2 years ago to make that purchase.

Henry and Colchar.......

I am sorry to hear this. Both young and "Go For It" kinda guys. Not fair! Why can't it be the couch potatoes?

But life isn't over (And don't go and get crazy) but it will just be.... Different.

Many, when they partner with a top doctor, live long lives and find ways to get "It" done!

I have no doubts that you will both get "It" done. It's just who both of you are.

Maybe you might be candidates for "Stem Cell Therapy" to regenerate healthy tissue. You might still need a pacemaker/defib, but a stronger heart will allow you to do more. Sometimes the pacemaker/defib can be removed too! Please look into it. Change doctors if necessary! In fact, FIND THE BEST!

Prayers Fellas! That's how we can help! Everybody send as much as you can! It's the right thing to do for our member brothers!

Get better guys! :fingersx::fingersx::fingersx::fingersx: We're all rootin' for ya!

Some neighborhoods, it's harder to make money doing that than you might think. I grew up in a really blue collar area. Everyone did it themselves, or just didn't even give a damn because they didn't have a car.

In the nicer parts of town, there are still kids that do that. Hell, a friend of mine from high school invested in a used snow blower, and every time it snowed, he made about 400 bucks in a couple days. There are still smart, ambitious people out there.

I would probably do it, but I already have a pretty physical job, and my back and knees got screwed up in a car accident a couple years ago. Never felt quite the same since. The cold only makes it worse.

If there is any more than 3-4 inches here, it is not safe to bother going out. Everyone closes everything. You would think, living somewhere that snows every year, people would be more acclimated to it. They aren't. Our plows are not very good. There was some obvious ice (sheets) on the freeway on my way home last night, and they had been plowing the hell out of it all. People here do not know how to drive in it. I see cars that have slid off freeways, particularly on the ramps. Anyone who doesn't know those will be particularly slick should not be going out. I can get by, but I have the tires for it. All the same, no use driving a lowered BMW when it gets too bad. There just isn't enough ground clearance.

And I ain't going nowhere for a lonnnggggg time.

Last night we got about at least 13-14 inches of snow, with very high winds, and I have 3 1/2-4 foot drifts in the yard and surrounding my cars.

The snow plows have cleared the streets, and left a wall of heavy, packed snow 4 feet deep and 15 feet wide across the entrance to the 30 feet double driveway.

It is still pretty windy, and the temp is 7*, heading for a high of 12*, wind chill of -5*.

I got the porch swept off and most of the stairs, took out the trash to the street, and said fvck it, and just came back in.

I am under pretty strict Doctor's orders to do no snow shoveling, and we have received a 40 year record single storm event for snowfall totals, not sure about exactly right here, that was Detroit. I was told quite firmly that I am to do no more than WALK for the past 4 months, and especially no shoveling.

The neighbor is in the process of snowblowing the front sidewalk, he's a 70 year old retiree who has been helping me out this winter.

I have been disregarding doctor's orders to do the porch, walkway and area around the cars and driveway, up until today.

Ya see, Thursday, I am to go in for a final test, MUGA, that is just a formality, after which we will schedule a defib/pacemaker procedure, and I am capitulating to my doctor's orders, the cold weather, kevinpaul's explicit pleas and my utter weakness, and I'm gonna find another way to clear my snow. :hmm:

That, or come Thursday, I jump in the Z71, warm it up, and peg the gas in Low Lock. :naughty:

Not looking for and am uncomfortable with pity; I'm just describing my week.

I haven't even been fully honest about my condition with my fellow mods.

Henry, you take it easy, and give me a call if you need to talk.

OK, this is how my car looked; 2 foot of snow stuck to the driver's side windows, and snow drift pyramids up to the top of the wheel wells at each tire.

Possible pics around the house gave no real panoramic context, so I didn't bother trying to capture it, but I found this just up the road yesterday afternoon, and this is how everything looks around here.

This is a storage place, and those buildings are 9-10 foot tall.

The post in the foreground is a marker so the county road trucks know where the road is; the ditch just in front of me in the pic is about 8 feet deep.
