For a few weeks I've been working on moving my granny over near me......
As I previously posted she just turned 99 and can no longer live on her own.....
But I'll be damned, she made it on her own deep into her 98th year.....
And I do mean on her own.....my grandad passed away back in 1998 and she made on it her own for another 26-27 years......
So, Today starts the last step in this phase......
I'm heading over to her house later today to grab a few more things and staying there tonight.
Then tomorrow morning around 10/11am I'm picking her up from skilled nursing to bring her over to live by me at a medical heavy assisted living.
Gonna be an adventure and I hope she survives the drive......Its 4 1/2 hours across the desert, thru the Cascades (White Pass) and down thru the foothills......
She hasnt spent more than an hour in an automobile in 20 years......
She has alot of health issues in that 99 year old body, so there is a chance it'll be too much on her.
We had a heart to heart and she said, "It is what it is, lets get it done !! "
She also said if she expires on the way over, she couldn't think of a better place or person to be with.....and I know she really means that.
Hopefully we make it over without issue......
She has 1 surviving sister only 30 minutes from where she's moving, and is excited to see her (its been 20 years)
The facility she is moving into isnt terrible, not luxury either....
But !!.....it is only 8/10ths of a mile from my shop and 1/2 mile from my oldest sons shop.
Brenda has a new job in town now and will always be close as well.
We had Brenda's dad there during Covid and are very familiar with the ins and outs of how they operate...
Its a bit dated for sure, but the access is excellent and we will be able to see her daily and get things done easily.....
FWIW.....
***I know there are more serious issues going on around here, hardships and tough circumstances being dealt with.
My thoughts are with you @Pop1655 and I hope you and family are hanging in there ***
