Hey there. I am looking to buy my first . It's a used Gibson les Paul studio in white. The guitar looks pretty legit to me and I know the seller is genuine. But after some research I found out that the serial number he supplied does not match the Gibson number system. The guitar has a 10 digit serial number? I have looked into this a bit and can not find anything about 10 digit serial numbers on gibsons. Does anyone know anymore about this? The number is 0123660422

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks.
-Matt.

The first 3 pics are WAY too small, but if the last pic is of the same guitar, it looks legit to me?

Some bigger, clearer, more detailed pics should be taken of the headstock (front and back) and the rest of the body, but all in all I'd say it's legit.

Looks like the seller made a mistake while giving you the number, like accidentally hitting the six twice.

I have had a bit of a muckaround with the guitar dating program and the most relevent typo that fits with his purchase date is that the first one in '0123660422' has been accidently put in.

Hi. Although I can't provide a solid yes or know on the legitimacy or authenticity of this guitar I can tell you that I have purchased two Les Paul Sudios made this year (they are 60's Tributes with P90's) and both have 9 digit serial numbers vs the 10 digit you are describing.

Well, there's definitely a number too much in there.
Could either be the 1, 2, 3 or the 6.

it looks good but need bigger and better photos to confirm, but call Gibson with the serial number, if that is the serial number that is on the guitar, it is very strange, also ask the seller to send you a clear photo of the back of the headstock showing the serial number

Guitar is legit, he probably just put two 6's in the serial # by accident. Good amount of yellowing on that guitar, especially if it's an '06 (which the serial # would indicate without the 2nd 6).
