Hey guys i'm new to the forums and just got my first Les Paul. It's a epi Les Paul custom, antique white with gold hardware. I'm not diggin the gold. What do you guys think? Should i go with black chrome or black nickel hardware. I've been having trouble finding a bridge in anything but gold or chrome. Any feedback is appreciated. I'll get pics up as soon as possible.

Yes we like pics of new guitars. I think that the combination of gold on white is the best for those. Welcome, how do you like the new guitar?
What were you playing before?

I love it. Best thing I couldve done with my money. I was playing a strat til now. And the sound out of the Les Paul is so much more my style.

Antique White + Gold = The Schnitz. So does any ugly old thing that plays like butter. Why mess with it?

Leave it alone. Some "upgrades" aren't worth the money. In this case, it isn't even an upgarde - just an expensive cosmetic change.

Welcome, and congrats on the new guitar.

It does play like butter. It looks great. Just a little to flashy for my taste. If it didn't play so well I would held off for the artic white and black but I just couldn't wait any longer. I still love it though.

Guitars are like women....there's the giggly kind (Strats) and the serious kind (LPs). They both have their good points. :naughty:

Play the hell out of it and don't polish it. Do rub the body & hardware down after playing though. It'll soon begin to dull up a bit and not look so flashy.

And have fun!

HI! I'm new myself, and just picked up a used Custom off of craigslist... looks a lot like yours only, well, maybe a bit more beat up. It looks like it's been around a few blocks more than a few times. It does play great, however.
I was also considering swapping out the gold hardware for black, for a more modern, cleaner look, but after playing with it for a while and getting used to it, I think I'll hold off.
It's not my first Les Paul, nor my first Epi, but it plays better than the others I've owned. It reminds me alot of an old early 80's Ibanez Artist I used to have that I never should have gotten rid of. This Epi is the closest thing I've found to that guitar.
Enjoy yours...
Cheers!
Dan

I think ill hold off on changing out the gold as well. As you may have noticed on the pickup cover, the gold has already started to rub off, but it was a floor model that i got a hell of a deal on so who knows how many times its been played. Honestly, i think gold is starting to grow on me anyway. maybe ill go black after the gold wears off more and starts to look shoddy.

IMO, It's not flashy at all. Looks, great, looks classic. Unless you purposely want to change the way your LP sounds, looks great man. Try to use it for some time, and feel if you adapted to the look and feel. Then decide if there's a need to change the cosmetics. You can always go revert back to your original set up. :p just my two cents :)

Play it a lot, and I mean a lot.
The gold will burn off from the sweat of your hands and you'll have mojo that people pay for.
It will look good.
