NGD! 1959 Dirty Lemon

What year is it? I associate squeal with unpotted pickups (or just feedback in general).

It’s a 2021 so unpotten. But the guitar it self has a really bright/thin tone to it when it’s unplugged. Plugged it’s not good, my wife held her hand over her ears hehe. Even if I play with the EQ on my amp and boost the bass, lower treble, mid and precence and and and the result is not good, gets muddy and a closed sound. Tweak it up and it harsh like hell.

FWIW mine are at or below the pup rings.

By your pics the bridge seems a bit high.

That'll definitely make it brighter across all strings.

Is that a cushion at the headstock? My R8 came with the same case (I beleive) but it did not have that coushin. On that note, I've seen some cases with a puck-shaped cushion part for the toggle switch.

It's too bad that guitar didn't work out for you OP. That dirty lemon finish has a real vintage burst vibe to it. Looks aren't everything though - the sound of the guitar should always come first.

I rather take an ugly that sounds and plays wonderful than a beautiful top that doesn’t sound good.
