Please record and post your tracks! This thread is to help everyone with recording and playing and should represent all levels. I'll feel bad if I'm scaring folks off from participating. That's definitely not my intent - I just can't resist a good recording thread. I may submit a backing track I've recorded to Kfowler for next month's track, and won't post my version until all have posted theirs. And I'm flattered that you like my tracks - thank you! :)

Ok..
Just finished the Nova...got the motor in..now tuned..and son drove home.. !

All great playing guys.. Much sophistication and great style and technique..fantastic to listen to all.
Everyone really does this thread great..

Now the old Caveman must at least do something..
Luckily I am not shy..or proud as it seems..age does that lol
71 Les Paul Custom through who knows what all.... Maybe I'll try something serious later but really doing different stuff as you can hear on my soundclic

So washed my hands with Orange Cleaner..dropped a couple beers..took a half a Vike for my back..
Listened to this backing track.. Certainly not where I am going with my playing anymore..but..
Shot a one pass..mixed to MP3..done..
I remember those nights.. Crowd all on Blue Ozley or Purple Haze..sweat drenched front row..no bras..nips staring at my nuts....
..checking a flesh eater out for tonight.. "Hey maybe I'll write a song about you" uh sure..

Might want to wear protection.. I haven't used a Wah..echo..phase..in 1,001,000 years so..
I used 'em all LOL
Dynamics ? I don need no stinkin dynamics..
I warned you..

Sounds cool from everyone.

11s? Holy crap, I'd not be able to fret a note with 11s on a strat!:thumb:

You and me both. I thought I was being kind of manly by moving up to 9.5's on my Strat!:)

Very nice recording. This is the kind of tone this track was made for, thinks me.

Usually I wouldn't be able to either, it's a very loose, very played, 59 Strat.:)
I have 10's on all my other electrics.
Thanks for the :thumb:

Nice stuff guys: loved all the tracks posted in this thread :thumb:

Here's my try for this month: as usual it's a first take so please forgive some mistakes and sloppy playing.

I went for a cleaner tone on this one: used my LP Traditional and Amplitube Fender.

I hope You like it

So I wanted to try something different and step out of my comfort zone. I'm not a strat guy. I own one. I like them. They're just not my preferred guitar. I wanted to try it on this with some overdrive.

This was one take with my '02 Fender Strat MIM with Tonerider pickups, my now heavily modded Picovalve, VL Sparkle Drive, and a Celestion G12L-35. I added some reverb and EQ post recording.

I do love the way this thing sounds with the neck pickup.

Here is my approach. Once again for another month an amazing backing track. Thank you.
I am away from the SRV sound. Just wanted to experiment with the spirit of his work through my vision of blues and sound, Enjoy.
I admit it was great fun.

Thank you!

I decided to take another stab at the mix with a Lexicon reverb on the guitar and Ozone 5 for the mastering tool. It's a subtle difference but it seems less boxy to me.

Nice take Lefty, very inspiring. What a great plugin Ozone 5 is, it can do wonders. Another really good plug for mastering, and is every bit as good, is Voxengo Elephant. These 2 are my go to plugs for mastering. Voxengo is a VST plug only, so if you want to use it in Pro Tools you would have to us a VST to RTAS wrapper.
