I have a P-90 template but what I need is the depth measurements which includes both steps. Any good pictures or diagrams would help also.

I started a scratch build 57-59 LP DC Jr. with the left over White Limba.
As soon as i make a little more progress I'll post the build pics. So far I got the neck rough cut to shape and the TR done ( yes it's a traditional TR )

Thanks !
Lou

BFCG will have that spec. It shouldn't take long for him to pop in.O'L

The P-90 mounts directly to the body. It all depends on what p-90 you use.
Measure the p-90's height and after you have the body carved do the pup routing.
Spacers could be used if you go too deep.
Here are specs from SD.:
Soapbar version
Antiquity™ P-90s Neck Bridge
top pickup length: 3.158 3.158
top pickup width: 1.205 1.205
bottom plate length: 3.30 3.30
bottom plate width: 1.295 1.295
total pickup height: .640 .640
total magnet height: .125 .125

winding direction: top going top coming
pickup cover length: 3.365 3.365
pickup cover width: 1.365 1.365
pickup cover height: .360 .360
magnet polarity: north south
center to center: n/a n/a
calibrated yes yes
height adjustment: mounted to body mounted to body
magnet pattern: 2 bar magnets 2 bar magnets
DC Ohms: 7.9K 8.52K
Inductance: 6.85 henries 7.41 henries
Q: 2.84 2.84

hey bfcg,
for corners: what radius router bit you use?
5/8", 1/2" or 3/8"?

I believe the actual radius of the cavity is 5/8, so you could use 5/8 or smaller if you are using a template and a guide bearing .
I use a template and whatever the sharpest bit I have at the time as long as it fits in the radiused cornrers of the template.
The cavity should be roughed out before you use the final bit. Why burn out a bit on the hogging part of the job, especially a smaller bit like a 3/8.

So I take it that I don't need the "Steps" routed into the cavity if I'm gonna be using a Dogear P-90 ?

Will I also need to cut out the area where the tabs of the backing plate sits on the body ?

The PDF shows the pickup cover and pickup outline. With no real cavity to measure I just guessed on the lower (L shaped) route. You could probably get the dimensions pretty close by rotating/skewing the closeup picture.

I use A9CAD mostly now. Not a ton of features like AutoCAD but less complicated too. I think Inkscape will transform (rotate/skew) images.
