Hey Guys!

I'm looking for an SG junior to use with my new band, but im not down for the whole 3-4 thousand dollar 60's juniors to use in a gigging band. That, and i could never afford it :laugh2:

Are there any companies that are doing copies of the SG Junior, or any builders who would be willing to help me ?

thanks in advance, if anyone can give me a hand. :)

Keep an eye on Ebay I've seen two Epiphone SG Jr's in excellent condition recently that went rather cheaply, under $300.00 USD.

LOOK FOR THE 90's SGX, they have one humbucker in the bridge position, equipped with the split coil function for the single coil sound, they are great players, can be had for around $400 to $500 on Ebay

You could always look for a 60's JR with issues which would come in a lot cheaper and could be a killer player.

Who was it, Greg? who took a faded SG and made a Jr. from it?
It was really nice, as I recall.

Do what I do (well I stole this one from the great Leslie West) remove the neck pickup off an SG Special and use the neck spot as an ashtray (if you smoke, if you don't then just cover the spot up with black electric tape) and keep the bridge pickup. Voila !

or you could do what Phil X does, use a computer fan grille to cover the neck spot and stick an action figure of your favorite character in the cavity. He uses the SG style LTDs, with either a humbucker or p-94 in the bridge spot.

Saw this pic a few days ago.

Love it :laugh2: Phil X is the man, and his Vipers aren't half bad (by that I mean I want one so damned bad).

If they decided to reissue the SG Junior with a small guard and P90, at an affordable price...

Well, I wouldn't have any complaints about that

But for now GASing for that Melody Maker SG will have to do :thumb:

It may not be exactly what you're looking for, but I'll throw it out there anyway.

Take a look at the Epiphone SG Junior. I played several of the new ones at GC yesterday and I was quite impressed. They are VERY light and resonant, and while the single humbucker was not the most complex pickup I've ever heard, it was decent sounding. The neck is a bolt on, but felt solid, much more so than my 99/00 Epiphone LP Junior.

For $120, it's hard to beat. I almost considered getting one and keeping it for a couple of years until my son is old enough to play.
