There are alot of good thinkers around here and just alot of guys with plain ol hand on experience.. Ive read it could be done but how much of a project is it..

I have a solid state princeton chorus and its fun as hell, but been lookin to get a first tube amp and there are some nice decent heads out there for good prices..

So my question is how do u turn ur solid state amps into a cab/pair of speakers when you want?

Also by doing that, does it permanently disable the solid state amp from workin?

Is there a way to use the princeton when i want, then plug into a tube amp head and use the princeton as a cab when i want?

Enlighten me :fingersx::fingersx:

You would need a 1/4 inch jack with bypass (shorting) contacts in it. Then you wire it into the path between your amp and speaker. When no cable is plugged in the jack is out of circuit and the amp output goes to the speaker as normal. Then when you plug in a cable from another amp output it breaks the connection to your amp and connects the cable to the speaker.

I have a link and video to doing that exact project in my signature.

I used two jacks so there would never be a questions as to what was plugged in because if you turn a tube amp on with no speaker attached you may get smoke.

I did this for a bit while shopping around for a 112 cab. I had put a nice Eminence Ragin' Cajun speaker in my trusty Fender SS practice amp, so I disconnected the speaker leads from the amp unit, and installed an input jack in the back panel, and wired that to the speaker. I ran my Blackheart Little Giant head thru it for a while, and it was very convenient, and only takes a few seconds to reconnect the amp.
