I need a good strat/tele case...not the best per se (although those waterproof skb cases are sweet, if i were spending that money for a case it would be for my LP)

What do you use, what do you like about it, what dontcha like 'bout it?

My Strat case is way old, but built like a tank. I can throw it in airline baggage and not worry about what's inside. But it's heavy as hell, built for flight protection and not much else. Builder's name is Chris Datt, it's a classic flight case.

For less demanding scenarios, the SKB you mentioned is ATA approved, much lighter and undoubtedly cheaper than mine. The technology's come a long way since those days.

So what level of protection are we talking about? If you're just lugging it around town, a decent gig bag works for me.

I just bought a Chinese "Guardian" case for my SG and am quite happy with it for $99. I just ordered it from the local "king of the low end" guitar store locally and he got it in one day. Good protection. Has the wedge for protecting an SG's neck joint at the body.

Can't get an Amazon link to work here for you though. I see ones for Fender style guitars though.

for my strat/tele I have a cheap plastic case with the foam/fur covered interior. It's a good case and it's light.

I also have a wooden tweed covered Fender case that I use sometimes, (actually I'm saving it for my "one day" Telecaster) but I've carried my Strat around in that one too and it's nice,...heavy though even when empty.

the tweed

I can't find the exact plastic case I have, but it looks like this one.. (edit: link doesn't work, not sure why)

Something like this would probably work ok..

or if you want tweed without the higher price tag or "F' word...

thanks for the suggests....

can't bring myself to use a gig bag...need something more substantial. i got a semi nice tweed case from MF (i think) that does the job, but i'd like something a slightly more robust, and certainly i like the option of it accomodating both my strat and tele

I am starting to like gig bags (Gator)for the following reasons...

1)they are cheap
2)I am cheap
3)the only place I will be bringing my guitar(s) in the foreseeable future will be once per week band rehearsal, so it sits on the passenger seat floor with neck leaning against the door in the car.
