Here is a song for you:

Not necessarily my favorite style of music but I can certainly appreciate the content and thanks for the effort.

I do like this one. I think he's playing a Gibson Acoustic, with a Martin on the rack. Funny story at the end!

Epiphone makes garbage? :wtf:

Hyperbole much?

Now I’d rather have a 1962 335, than say a 2020 Epiphone 335, but that doesn’t make the Epiphone unplayable or useless. And if it is...then I’ll gladly pay postage for all your garbage guitars. Send ‘em over.

My Epi '57 Reissue Junior is only a close approximation of a Gibson Junior, but it's a good guitar in its own right. I'm hoping to try out the new Epi Special when one is available here.

I wonder has anyone ever said:

"Man I sure wish I was playing an Epiphone Les Paul copy instead of this Gibson Les Paul?"

Watching the NAMM Epiphone booth- They're even selling the fact that they're not butter!

They put their hand over the logo and say "look I can't believe it's not butter (Gibson)"

Lol, too funny!

Having had a 2003 Epi LP since new I often wondered the difference but never had the opportunity to put head to head and test. Anyway I have picked up an awesome Gibson Standard on getting it home played both and in terms of playability nothing in it really, the bound fretboard is equal on the Epi, tone on soloing notes it is just as good, unplugged it has good sound and sustain. Where the difference sits is in the clarity through the mids when playing a chord with some gain. It is noticeable when you are looking out for it but to be honest it took a good few comparisons. I get as an Epi player you may be trying to justify not having Gibson on the headstock but equally, I know a few old boys that just don't care what is on the headstock playing squires simply because of the tone. I will never get rid of my Epi LP because I know and have known it is a special guitar and has proven it against a Gibson at 5 nearly 6 times the price. I don't know about the modern versions and so can't comment. I could upgrade the pickups and I am sure my Epi would be equal to my Gibson.

If you are looking for something better than Epiphone, and on par with Gibson, for the price of an Epiphone; then check out Edwards MIJ. I have a flame top flying V, that IS every bit as good as the Custom Shop Gibson. The quality of the wood and components are amazing on the Edwards. I played alot of the Custom Shop Gibson Vs to make this comment, and it didn't make sense to spend the extra $3000 for the Gibson version.

What was the reason for starting this thread?...just curious.

"I have a $2500 Gibson, I only like having one guitar, I love this Epi that I bought, then I bought a HP, look squirrel, I hear voices, oooh shiny keys, I'm hungry, maybe I'd like a Moonpie, wait, look what I can do....everybody, everybody, look at me!"

As noted on the first page, the OP wanted to stir the pot. Otherwise he would have put this in the Epiphone section where the fanboy's would just clap and cheer!

Yep I bought a "lot" of them off ebay several years ago. Have some in all my guitar cases and in my gig bag. I'm not a fan of mechanical strap locks. :cheers2:

i also think the reason they wont change the headstocks to make them the same (yes I know they changed epi headstock recently but its still not gibson), is because Epi and Gibson are too similar in quality. Making the headstocks the same would make this too obvious
