He is a very well known guitar. Owned by Gary Grainger of Faces and the Rod Stewart Group during the 70's and 80's. Acquired and owned by Michael Corby of the Babys during the 80's through 2000 +. He is heard on many recordings and toured extensively. I am the current caretaker..... He has an awesome tone that could give Jimmy Pages tigers and Pearly a run for the money any day. And I am not the only one to say that....... I thought it time that people see him.... Michael christened him Waldstein.... He also told me the whole story about selling Jimmy Page the "Red Devil" LP..
Been having trouble with MLPF uploads so we will see.. I am going to try as responses...

Made my day - that is glorious! :thumb:

Is the "Les Paul" script quite high, or is it just me?

59 specs.... you MUST remember these guitars were made by HAND and not everyones hands put everything in the exact same position.. I can't really tell the placement apart from my 54 GT. I think it would have jumped out at me if there was any difference but I really never looked. ..

What's with the bridge alignment? The strings are almost hanging over the high-e side.

It's obviously not the original bridge and the angle of the pic is off a bit. It is not off enough to really bother me to have new saddles cut or search for a new one. it is a 59 bridge and tail piece. This guitar had a bigsby on it originally.. I made NO adjustments to this guitar... I put on a bridge and strung it up tuned it up and was in another solar system!! This instrument is not of this planet! While all the other lp's of vintage heritage carry the names of women. Waldstein is a mans name and he would F--CK all the others ones in the A-s easlily! With all due respect.....

Mr. Corby never recorded or toured with that guitar. He was kicked out of "The Babys" in the mid 70's and he bought that guitar in the mid 90's.

With that center seam, I'm gonna say Dick Knight had a hand in that.

I don't know you Eric..I really don't care what it is. It plays unbeleivably and sounds fantastic. That is all that matters to me. I have been playing for over 40 years and it is one of the finest sounding and playing instruments... And as far as Michael Corby goes. He is a great musician and the founder of the Babys and a great part of rock n roll history. I don't remember the band you played in Eric?? How many albums did you cut and when did you jam with Jimmy Page??

Your comments about Gary Grainger were separated by your comment about Michael Corby.

I was taking it as you wrote it.

I know way more about that guitar than you think I do. :)

I am sorry. I don't sniff corks or disect paragraphs. How many spelling mistakes did I make?? If you like I could have Michael give you a ring from GB I am sure he will fill you in gladly...
