Hi guys , throw this one out to you all , probably been done before , but whatever! What do you regard as the hallowed classic tone?By that i mean who has truely captured that magic on tape ? Of course there are the obvious ones like Clapton with the Blues breakers , Green etc , who else to your ears has caught it in all its glory for you? Fire away !!!:slash:

There are not many other guitars that 'growl' like a Gibson Les Paul...

It's the wood that makes it good. I've never played a guitar that sounds as good when tuned down a whole step.

What defines the Les Paul tone is the person playing the Les Paul - and that's true regardless of whatever version of the guitar is being played.

For me, the sustain and the growl. I can't do that with my Strat, has to be my LP!

Great sustain, a heavy, thick sound when overdriven, and a buttery, smooth "woman tone."
