Another vote for Levy's Leathers...!

I have some of the very expensive padded Gibson straps -- and they are indeed good for taking the weight of a Lester over a long period -- but my absolute FAVORITE strap is this:

This is *not* a cheap strap; in fact, it's bloody expensive -- but the leather is so soft and so thick that it achieves all the benefits of the bulky Gibbo padded straps with a "normal" strap design. The burgundy leather is the perfect match for the aniline stain on the back and neck of my Trad too. I have to admit that I plan to get a couple more of these when my budget allows, probably one in black (for my other LP) and one in dark brown (for my ST57 Strat).

Anything from Walker & Williams. Best guitar straps I’ve ever owned at very reasonable prices. Both the G classic series and the double padded series feel super comfortable even with the non-weight relieved LPs.
Agree Paulo, I have several Walker & Williams and easy to find, reasonably priced.

If you’re looking for stuff in the UK (I’m a Brit too), then this is the cheapest place I’ve found for the Levy’s straps:

They’ve got black, dark brown, tan, burgundy and red all in stock and about twenty quid cheaper than most other places.

(In the spirit of fairness, however, GAK are currently selling the Burgundy version for £69 instead of £99 for the other colours!)

Right, I forgot about their statement on their website that they
had had it with the taxes, surcharges, etc. associated with
shipping to the UK. Sorry Geezer. My apologies.

Here's the link: No Shipping to UK Statement

I no longer use leather but lots of people do and the Anthology Reticent strap would be my pick. I don't really like the extra-fancy tooled straps and other wackiness that makers have gotten into, since the basic guitar and strap themselve deserve the attention, I think. The ost functional strap I know, and this is what I use now, is the ESO strap, which is fabric and curves around your neck for excellent positioning. But it's not fancy at all so probably not the thing for many LP players. I do have a few really gorgeous straps, non-leather, by Singing Crane in Japan. These are made out of old obis and come in incredible patterns. Check out their website. They're the only really decorative strap that I like.

I have a lot of straps. Leather, hootenanny style, etc.

My first guitar strap was an Ace. I lost the original, but found another on ebay years ago in marginal condition. It's being reproduced by D'Andrea.

The best strap I own is a black leather, 2ply (or whatever they call it), medium soft. I can't remember where I got it, probably ebay. But it's nice and comfortable.

I tend to look for a strap that compliments the guitar it will live with. That said, I like minimalism. So it's usually a color compliment, or a design similarity.

Most times, it's just a plain black nylon Ernie Ball. :)

There is a guy on Reverb that has some real nice straps. The name is Well Hung Straps. He makes a military themed one and he'll use your old insignia if you send it to him. That makes for a nice personalized touch...if you served.

That guy is me. Thank you for the mention, @Sp8ctre much-appreciated. Plus if you play Well-Hung, you get the additional chance support an MLP brother.

Personally, I like straps that are above all are comfortable and secure, not mass-produced. Ones a thousand others can't just grab off-the-rack as mentioned earlier by another brother. Something with substance. Something that compliments the instrument, has enough personality for a signature "My Rig" kind of thing, and one strap for each guitar.

If your strap has big recognizeable logos on it, I hope you have an endorsement deal or are getting paid for the advertising. Police line or fan of this band or that band straps aren't even ironically cool or funny anymore. I hold firm to my belief starter pack straps belong in starter packs and most mature players who "get it" naturally graduate from those once they become more serious about a quality gear experience.

More comfort = more time playing = more joy (and hopefully more money and hot kinky action!).

I'm getting ready to gather up some of my old insignia for a strap. Can I go directly to you here by PM?

Yep, if you’re gonna drop 1k — 5k on a new axe, it’s well worth thinking about spending 100 or so on a decent strap that is (a) comfortable and (b) complements your lovely new git-fiddle!

I have two Walker & Williams straps. Bought them for my two heaviest guitars, an '81 Strat and a '79 LPC. They are really nice, super comfortable and the price was very reasonable. Highly recommended.

I have several of the high end ones from Gibson as well as a couple from Walker and Williams and Levy, but my favorites are the ones built by friends... here are my Well Hung Straps, Brad is great to deal with and will make them exactly how you want 'em.... highly recommended if you to want to stand out in comfort...

I love 60s style hippie straps, I have just ordered three of them from a guy based in France. He makes wonderful replicas of old straps and the reviews he is getting on reverb.com are fantastic.
One will go on my les paul junior in tobacco burst that is actually on hold because of this crazy situation.

Can't wait!

Same here. I've got them on my ES-335, Strat, and Rickenbacker as well.
