G0 is the Guitar Center special edition of the R0, or Custom Shop Les Paul 1960 reissue. They only differ from the "regular" R0 in that the serial number starts with G0 - the letter G followed by a zero, hence the "G0." They are well regarded because they are an actual Custom Shop 1960 Reissue R0, but sell new for $1000-$1500 less than a "regular" R0. They are also considerably cheaper used than a "regular" R0, so people like them a lot.

How about helping an old man out? What is a "G0?" Thanks!

While we are talking about G0's, there are also CME guitars - "Chicago Music Exchange" special editions. I've never seen one in person, but based on Reverb listings they appear to be custom shop reissues (with COE's etc) and sell for a little less than non CME models.

This, in my opinion, is not worth $2850 + tax (and possibly shipping). Apparently, Carter doesn’t clean their used gear, which might be some insight as to what you get when you pay vintage dealer prices. And what’s with the faded out back and neck? I see some hints of the cherry. In my mind, that’s a $2500 guitar. Tops.

Especially when you consider that back in 2007 the NEW price was 2500/2600 bucks, at least here in Europe.
And you guys in the states always have better deals.
It really bugs me when people ask a great deal more than what they paid for, especially for a visibly used instrument.
I get it if it's a rare, special edition or whatnot but that's hardly the case.

One minute on Reverb to find one under 3k.... https://reverb.com/item/37419346-gibson-les-paul-ro-60-reissue-2008-ice-tea-burst that is in excellent condition and the seller will accept offers. there are also a bunch of R8's in the $3000 - $3300 range.

Yeah. It took me a whole minute to find that one too. Not my cup of tea with the brown back. I'm not saying that the market is 100% void of R0s in the $3000 range. Just not nearly as plentiful as they were a while back. And most of those R8s in the $3000 - $3300 range are overpriced. Earlier this year I sold a mint R8 in Bourbon Burst. Best I could get was $2650, and that was a struggle.

It would seem that the 2012 Historics would be great deals to look into.....if you can get over the bi-layered fretboard.

Not all 2012's had that 2 piece board....The very early and very late 2012 models had one piece.

I got an awesome 2012 R9 for $3000 a couple of years back.... it was absolute mint example. Late in the production run so it could be a one piece,.... i don't know.... i never checked. I bought it cuz it had a sweet top and I was considering a Historic Makeover project.... Well, i fell in love with it and left it untouched.

This angle doesn't do the flame justice but it shows off the carve nicely...and i love the color too.

I wouldn’t use the 2012 thing to try to get a better deal! It’s not an issue. My 2012 “59” has been perfect. If there was an issue it probably would have occurred by now.

Never said there was,...... BUT,..... the bi-layered fretboard does have an affect on the MINDs of those looking at buying a 2012 Historic no matter what yours or my experience IS.

Buyers will want a price cut for that 2 piece probable fretboard..... it’s a fact.

They can want what ever what they want. It’s up to the seller! I think we are done.

I picked up one the CME exclusive R8s in 2019 and it has been a great guitar. Good price too. Something to consider!

I'm really looking for a G0/R9... the cheapest they have is a used unit for $4500. They have a few R8s with decent weear in the $3200 - $3500 range. Which is way too high IMHO.
