I've played them all and the current models all seem to have the fast neck you like.

I'd get the 336/356 over the 339 because they have a great woody tone since the back and sides are made from one solid piece of mahogany. The top is solid as well, not laminated like most the other ES Gibsons.

The smaller 336/356body feels more Les Paulish in stature as well.
Gibson has some great slimish necks, but they do vary even within the guitar style since every guitar is slightly different.

Thanks for the info - I'm really gassing for a vintage 345, or a 335, what are the necks like on these? - newer ones, that is, can't afford vintage

Most 335's I've played have been on the thin side. My 1980 335 was real nice and thinish. The necks will feel wider if the back is flattened more like a D shape than a C shape.

The biggest stupidest Gibson necks I've ever tried to play were on some SGs.:wtf: I can deal with a large neck on a Les Paulo, but never on an SG. I've not played an ES with a fat neck, but there may be some out there.

My Lucille neck is as big as my R7;the only fatter neck I have played was a Nocaster. My 333 is thin;for a small neck almost perfect.

my '89 Dot has a pretty beefy neck, not as big as my '64, but still substantial.
