Hey Everyone,

I don't know which Epiphone to get! My choice is between two wonderful guitars. One being the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plain Top (Honey Burst) or the Epiphone Limited Edition 1956 Les Paul (Gold Top).
They both sound amazing and feel right to me. I love the sound and look of both of them. Where the LP Standard is cheaper I love the 1956 LP. If I buy the Standard then I will have some money left for a nice hard case. But if I get the 1956 LP then I will only have enough for a gig bag but I won't be over the road or anything so the bag will work.
So what should I do MLP?

Grab the GT. Nobody really knows how long those will be in production, whereas there will always be Standards in Epi's lineup. I'm sure you'll be able to afford an aftermarket case in a month or two, just be careful with the gig bag in the interim.

P90's seem to be all the rage these days. Go with it.

I admit my prejudice, as I used to play a REAL '56 Gibson goldtop with P90s, I always liked the way it cut through the mix. My somewhat modded '56 Epi goldtop P90 cuts through just as well, and with a nicer tone. So I'd say go with the GT. As far as the gig bag issue is concerned, I gig and have a bunch of guitars. I haul my gear around in a pickup truck, but I always put my guitars in the truck cab with me -- even in they are in a case and not a bag. Bags work great for this, and they are much lighter than cases. A big plus when some of the gear you have to handle is heavy.

You'll probably end up getting both overtime so decide which one you want first ;)

If you really like the P90's sound, get the GT.

I have a Epi 56 Goldtop and i just have got a Epi Les Paul 1960 50th aniversay V1 which is a limited edition with Burstbuckers, i have to say the Goldtop i have with P90s is a much better sounding guitar and feels more comfatable but of course everyone is different. both are great Guitars :)

I have been playing for 20+ years. Mostly blues, classic rock and a bit of country. I have a few nice guitars. '92 Gibson Les Paul, '62 Reissue Gibson SG, two Am. Std. Tele's, a Hwy.1 Tele and an Am.Std. Strat. (Telecasters have '54 RI pups etc.) Many months ago I bought me a '56 Epi. Gold Top with P-90's. I can't put my Gold Top down! I've A/B'd it with all the others. The others are in thier cases. This '56 GT with P-90's is a tone machine!! I'm VERY HAPPY with my '56/P-90 GT!!!
