Within the next few months I might be lucky enough to afford a CC#1 VOS.

I make no secret I am a massive Peter Green fan and this guitar has huge appeal to me.

But, would it be a better player than my R8? Are they really worth the extra money (I know I would have to buy a second hand one).

My R8 is a fantastic guitar and I have the PG Blues pickups installed with TVT CTS pots and real bee's. To justify the change, I would most likely sell the R8.

So, for those that have played a CC#1 VOS, what are your comments / observations on these guitars when compared to an R8.

Are the Bare Knuckle PG Blues and the wiring harness in my R8 going to be better than what comes stock in the CC#1? Ie, should I swap them over?

I remember someone saying the electrics were wired 'funny' in these? something about the pickups being wired directly to the tone pots or something?
Do you have any pictures of the wiring?
Have Gibson really nailed the tone without good pots/caps/pickups?

Thanks for any further info :)

I've sold a few Very nice LP's lately...a Pearly Gates, a Beano and a Haynes. Going to Keep my CC#1 Peter Green if that tells you anything. When I get back from Grandma's house I'll post some pics. Imo, This LP rivals The Best even in VOS form. A Must own LP ESP if you're a Peter Green fan.

Thanks for the picture.
It is difficult to make out what is going on. I can see the pickups go to the middle lug on the volume pots, but then the switch seems to go to the tone and I can't really see what is connected to what.

I presume this is Gibsons interpretation of Greeny's setup, it clearly is not 50's style wiring?

How would you describe the sound difference compared to a CC#2?

the pickups are wired out of phase so the middle switch position gives you the PG honk - of course, this mod can be done on any stock pickup pair.

i 'think' the PG's might be BB2 & BB3 though? i seem to remember them being different than typical historics

I'm sure the wiring is not an "Interpretation" since they had the Original of which Duplicate

I have the Bare Knuckle PG Blues in my R8. Takeaway (who PM'd me earlier) is about to take delivery of a CC#1 Gary Moore and he has invited me round for a jam, we can do a tone comparison between the BK's and the stock items in the CC#1.

They both feel and sound very different. The CC 1 has some fight to it when you play a bit stiffer.

Besides a big one the out of phase pickups the bridge pickup in cc1 has more of a upper mid focus and not as much bass as CC2.Both can be very sweet and mellow and then extremely aggressive just with pick attack.

The neck pick ups are very alike on both with a hint of double tone. The pickups on CC1 are lightly potted and my CC2 pickups are not potted at all.

The middle pos. on both are miles apart.I love the sound of both and this where the tone of the guitars shine. No mudd here just sweet beautifull tone on both.
