THERE IS NO "E" IN WHISKY !!!! At least in Scotland !:thumb:

Correct! The Irish added the 'e' to their whiskey spelling to differentiate it from the Scottish variety.

When I used to drink the stuff I had a a fondness for Knockando.

Stopped drinking completely for almost 25 years. Now I have maybe 2 oz or so of French Brandy every few days...
Can't stand Scotch, which leaves more for you.

enjoy .

Glenfiddich...very good indeed.

I'm a little late to this thread AND scotch. Previously I was a Jameson's drinker, but after a friend turned me onto the better Scotch's, well I'm sold.

Actually have four unopened and one with about a third of the bottle left. Also picked up two bottles of 25 since that pic was taken. A little age really takes the iodine edge off of Laphroaig.

If you're ever around, I'm happy to share a glass of whatever I've got. That's what it's for, tastes better with friends.

Thank you, that is a very gracious offer! I started enjoying scotch via the Walker blends but now I don't enjoy them as much. That iodine taste I've read about seems to have manifested and my palate doesn't appreciate it lately. Oddly enough I had not noticed this until after I started discovering the single malts.

I'm a bourbon guy too. For scotch, I like the Oban and once had a Glenlevit 21 that blew me away. I agree about single malt vs. blended. I can't get a taste for blended scotch, not even the blue label.

I'm in the DC area. Have you seen the Tak double-cut with the koa top? I'd love to find one of those!

I have not seen it and a quick google search was unproductive. DC huh, tasting that scotch collection is worth the drive! My wife would probably institutionalize me!

Ooh look! The ever-clever taggers are out. :)

I had a nice glass of Glenfarclas last night. It was pretty good. I need a second glass to really know what I think...

I think you might have that backwards. The Irish invented Whiskey, then the Scotch removed the "E" because they are terrible spellers and Whiskey makers.

Try Michael Collins Irish Whiskey. It's got a hint of peat, and all the smooth-ness of an Irish Whiskey.

Glenlevit when I drink scotch, which is rare. I'm a bourbon drinker almost without exception (I am from Kentucky after all). Hey, did y'all know this?:

"In 1964, the United States made it a law that bourbon must be produced from a grain bill of at least 51-percent corn and could be aged in brand new charred oak barrels. This resulted in a glut of used bourbon barrels on the market. The scotch makers took advantage of this, and today, more than 90 percent of scotch is aged in once-used bourbon barrels — so there’s a little bit of bourbon whiskey in every drop of scotch."

So there's a little bit of KY in good scotch! I dig that!

This is by far the BEST Kentucky Bourbon I've ever tried:

Cheers to all!
