See that's the thing, the post that started all this had nothing to do with what my mother thinks about gay people or gay issues, it was all about that she doesn't know what the rainbow means and wouldn't understand why people were waiving at her as the motored down the highway, which I thought was pretty funny. Thats all it was about, nothing more.
Here it is:
"A few years back my parents had whats called a 5th wheel, which is essentially a RV and my mom found a bumper sticker of the whole gay rainbow thing and not knowing what it represented she was going to put it on the back of their RV. I convinced her it might not be the right bumper sticker for her and my dad who were in their 70's at the time. I can just imagine how that would have played out, getting waives and beeps from some interesting folks and my mom thinks what a friendly world we have. It still cracks me up, I didn't have the heart to tell her what it would have been representing. Good old mom, gotto love her"
... and then it all went to shit. I'm out.
I have no beef with you, especially since we agree that people
(1) are entitled to their beliefs
(2) do not automatically have to be respected - judge it on its merits or flaws only
(3) provided they do not force their beliefs on others.
