Heya ppl,

after using only an OD and a simple gate and an EQ in amp FX loop, I got a few more effects pedals and a board and I'm not 100% sure on what order they should be arranged. Amp is a Randall RG solid state + cab is Engl 2x12, pedals are:
Tuner - Ibanez mini
Gate – Joyo Gates of Khan (no loop) / EHX Silencer (has loop)
OD – Joyo Green Legend
Chorus – Ibanez mini
Delay – TC electronic Prophet
Reverb – TC electronic Skysurfer
Looper – Harley Benton mini
EQ – Mesa Boogie 5 band

I did spend some time watching youtube videos and so far I understand the order should be:
Tuner>OD>EQ>Chorus>Delay>Reverb>Looper

I don't know however how to use the EHX noise gate (and maybe if there is a place for the other simple gate also), how it relates to the amp FX loop... Signal gets pretty noisy with this kind of high gain amp so the gate is needed.

CHEERS!

Hey dude,

I believe the classic order is:
Tuner -> Wah/phaser -> Compressor -> Overdrive -> EQ -> Pitch shifters -> Modulations -> Level pedals -> Echo -> Reverb -> noise gate -> Looper

So I guess your order would be:
0. Guitar
1. Ibanez Mini tuner
2. Joyo Green Legend OD
3. Mesa Boogie 5 band EQ
4. Ibanez Mini Chorus
5. TC Electronic Prophet Delay
6. TC Electronic Skysurfer Reverb
7. Noise gate (You don't really need to put two noise gates so you choose... Or you could have both of them next to each other and you use only one of the two at all times?)
8. Harley Benton Mini Looper
9. Randall RG solid state
10. Engl Cab

Again these are just guidelines and I encourage you to start there and then experiment with orders and such, the only ones set in stone are the tuner, gate and looper, as you would not want to loop noise, so you cancel it before looping your sound. Obviously tuner is first so you get the purest signal.

Hope this helps!
Please correct me anyone if I'm wrong :)

Well I've seen people saying the gate should always come before stuff like delay/reverb, so I was thinking in my case after the EQ and before those. I am however unsure how to use the X method on the gate loop..

Well you could place one after your EQ and before your chorus ? I would recommend testing out where there's the most noise in your pedal chain, and that's where you should put your noise gate.
I guess I understand why you've been told that it should go before your delay/ reverb, as sometimes some noise reduction pedals can clip the signal...!
I don't know anything about the x method on the gate loop though, sorry..! :dunno:

Bin the noisegate and looper
Tuner>EQ>OD>amp
'Send'>Chorus>Delay>Reverb>'Return'

I'm kiddin' about the looper - put that after the last thing you want to hear looped. Noisegates, I wouldn't waste money on for a live rig - they don't remove noise, they just kill the signal when you're not playing, the noise is there when you start playing - but if you must have one, it should be at the end of the chain, after the last pedal.

when using the equalizer to push then you might try the chorus and delay before the equalizer.
