Came across this guys Chibson for sale which is being advertised as a 'Les Paul Electric Guitar'. It's labeled as 'open box' for only $499. Doesn't seem he wants to really tell the buyer what it really is potentially leading a young buyer into thinking he's getting a good deal. Is this a scam or is it just me? I could be over thinking this.

It's a counterfeit scam and the seller is very carefully trying to avoid counterfeit claims by listing the country of origin and calling it "unbranded"... but then lists the model as "Gibson Les Paul"
That and the headstock constitute violations, please report the listing as a counterfeit.

Even for a fake it’s overpriced..... it’s a scam regardless of any truth telling....if indeed Gibson branded its fraudulent.

Funnily enough, they cropped the full pic to avoid showing the "Gibson" logo, but just from the body oic alone, you can tell it's a Chibson, lol.

The images crop the headstock, but the TRCs still show "Les Paul Standard" and they are listed as such. I think one of his 3 or 4 actually said "Gibson"
Those alone are IP violations.

He's also got a P90 Jag listed with the headstock similarly cropped, you can see half of the Fender decal.
It doesn't matter that he's listed them as originating in China, or basswood bodies, they are still illegal counterfeit imports.

I let the Glarry and Epiphone listings slide, but reported all of the Les Paul listings as well as the Jag.
Cropping the headstock is intentional deception. "Strat" may not technically be a lawful use of the name, but the listing is clear as to what it is.

He removed "Gibson Les Paul" from one of the models, but all are still listed as "Les Paul Standard"
And all still have the cropped images.

The seller is trying to make a couple of hundred dollars on each sale. It is definitely against the law though, that is why you don't see the headstock logo or shape.

Actually there was another fat turd selling and taking orders for these pieces of crap a couple of years ago.... he got into a heated discussion with a few members here and had a melt down and was shown the door. Can't remember his name but i do believe he's still out there.

There's quite a few of them........they don't show up here much anymore but they used to.

They would start a thread with something like " look at this great deal on a Ace Les Paul Custom " or " This Supreme is the best deal ".... and they were all fakes that they were testing the waters with. Trying to see if someone would bite.

LOL@ $829 Chibson!! Looks like he was reported already because his listing was taken down. Edit: looks like this is from a pawn shop, I wonder if they knew the difference when they originally posted this?
